fortnerfamilyhappenings: Houston Scott Powers

Yet another long, long overdue post. Back on November 15, one day past Jonathan's birthday, we joined Shane and Anjanette and the rest of the Pennington/McCullough/Powers/Smith clan in welcoming into this world Houston Scott Powers. He is just about (of course I have to qualify because of my own children) the cutest little baby ever. Jonathan and I are so excited to have a nephew (he's a nephew in our book) to love and spoil. Holt's only complaint is that they didn't name him James like he suggested, but he will come to understand one day that parents just have to name their own kids. We Fortner's did an awful lot of praying for that sweet little baby and look forward to going through parenthood's ups and downs with the Powers. Cousins have been very important to both Jonathan and me, and I am so thankful that Holt and Harper Ann will have cousins near and far to share their childhood with.

I was so fortunate to get to help host a baby shower for Houston (and his mama). It was fun letting my inner Martha Stewart come out. I've included a few pictures from the shower and saved the best for last; our sweet familial addition caps off this post.

An Alice Chow cake for baby Powers was appropriate, since this whole thing was started with an Alice Chow wedding cake. July 2, 2005 wasn't really that long ago.
